House of Pleasures was a proud vendor at Indy Pride 2017, June 10, 2017 and we decided to blog about our experience. Not only was this our first time at Pride, but first time vending at a large event. We checked in the previous day to learn our location and setup our canopy to prepare for Saturday morning's festival. The whole experience of signing up was seamless and very professional, which eased our minds during a stressful moment. Setting up took approximately 45 minutes and we had no rhyme-or-reason as to how the tables would be setup. Our location was perfect! We were next to the beer line, by the middle stage and in viewing distance of the main stage. I can honestly say, our location contributed to our success for the day. Right before the park opened up, the team began to relax and prepare for what could be one of the best days selling sex toys in an open format.
The park opened up to visitors at 11:00 EST and I immediately had customers including Indianapolis' own "Young Melo". I immediately noticed her because my best friends stalk her page on social media and in her head, that's her friend (lol)! I tried to FaceTime her, but she was at work, so she missed out and almost had a heart attack when I sent this picture to her.
The day went by pretty fast and the booth was busy from opening until approximately 1900 with some customers still buying until I shut down the booth at 2100. My family helped us control the crowd and to watch for "sticky fingers" as we had one young lady steal a pair of rainbow socks. Once Asia arrived, no more stealing people!! She stopped three additional customers from stealing and I believe the rest may have been scared to try after seeing her (lol)! Family rock!!
Customers were excited to purchase sex toys at Indy Pride and constantly asked about the physical location of the store. We met some exciting people and groups we plan to do business with in the future. Oh, and ate some delectable food :)
Would we vend at Indy Pride again? Absolutely! It was loads of fun, we made money, made mistakes, made great connections and overall, had a good time. We learned so much at Indy Pride 2017, we were able to take those lessons and apply to future Pride events we attended. Thanks Indy Pride for allowing House of Pleasures to vend this year...we will be back!
