The next morning we were up at 0600 and tired as hell. I could not fake the fatigue I was experiencing that morning. Once we got on the road and got to the location, the energy came back tenfold. There were so many vendors and music being played that I became motivated to knock this day out the park. We were able to drive right up to our booth and get everything setup. Once I unpacked, I decided to go find a parking spot for the truck and trailer. Now here's the caveat, I had no clue how to reverse the truck with the trailer attached (lol), so I had to find a spot I could pull into. Thank God I found it like 5-6 blocks from the festival; however, I was lost as shit on my way back to the festival. What should have been a 10 minute walk turned into 25.
The festival started at 1100 and people were already there waiting for the action to start. We had the perfect location at this festival, similar to Indianapolis, right by the stage where the music was booming and live. Of course, at our booth everyone dance and jump around due to the energy we let off. There were a total of five women, three watched out for sticky fingers, while two of us interacted with the crowd. I must admit, the crowd in Chicago was more live than Indianapolis. With Chicago being a bigger city, I figured it would have more action. These people partied until the police made them leave.
Half way through the day, I realized they had placed us right in from of a local adult toy store and could not believe my eyes. All the ladies with me noticed this upon arrival and stated they mentioned it to me and I did not recall that gesture at all. So, being the crazy woman that I am, looking up and seeing that store gave me an additional boost of energy. It became a mental game of who could get the most customers and I was the only player (lol). Game on bitches!!
Day one was a great day in terms of a first-time experience; however, the sales were quite subpar for such a big city. I believe the thunderstorm contributed immensely to this factor, but we still had fun and met pretty cool people.
Day 2 was a different story, it was hot as hell outside and I was tired from the previous day, but I pushed through. The music was pumping just as it was day 1 and we danced the day away. This day I was able to walk the festival and catch some vendors and a cool hat. Sales were great on the second day and was equivalent to sales at Indy Pride 2017. Honestly, I thought I would double the sales I made in Indy due to the size of the city, was I wrong. I ordered more product anticipating a bigger crowd, and came nowhere near the amount of people I saw in Indy. I would say the amount of customers I had in Indy covered the entire two days in Chicago. The only difference, the people in Chicago spent more money than those in Indy. I noticed these customers purchased more expensive items and knew exactly what they wanted. The positive aspect of a two-day festival is repeat customers and this brought a smile to my face knowing an actual store was less than 10 feet away. In the end, I made lots of money, won the "who had the most customers" game, got lost in the rain looking for my truck, was told I could get the juices sucked out my pu**y, and pulled totes down a long ass street. Overall, Chicago Pride Fest was a blast and I will definitely be back in 2018!
